The CIF-Southern Section playoff pairings for boys soccer were released Saturday morning and 11 area teams will have a shot at capturing a title.
The road to a CIF-SS title is tough, but it’s a feat last accomplished by a local team in 2020 when Oak Hills hoisted the Division 5 championship plaque, while Victor Valley reached the Division 6 title game last season.
The Jackrabbits are among the teams that qualified for the playoffs and are now up two divisions this season. Victor Valley begins the Division 4 playoffs with a road game against Patriot.
Victor Valley ended the season in second place in the Desert Sky League standings.
Meanwhile, Granite Hills, the league champions, will begin Division 3 action at home in the only all-local showdown. The Cougars host Sultana in a rematch from when the teams met on Dec. 7 that ended in a 1-1 tie.
Hesperia and Oak Hills receive two of the tougher draws in the area.
The Scorpions, which ended in third place in the Mojave River League standings, begin the Division 1 playoffs on the road against Valencia.
In Division 2 action, Oak Hills, which captured the MRL title, opens the playoffs with a home game against Roosevelt.
Two area teams received playoff berths as wildcard teams, looking to crack the final bracket of 32 teams.
